Sideroad 3 Bridge Study

Survey

Pearson Engineering Ltd. has been retained by the Township of Georgian Bluffs to complete a MCEA for Bridge Structure D-0007 located on Side Road 3, approximately 1.5km east of the Grey-Bruce Line. The bridge has been closed since 2018 due to the poor condition of the structure. The purpose of the MCEA is to identify and investigate multiple design alternative options including permanent removal, rehabilitation and replacement. Due to the condition of the bridge, rehabilitating (repairing) the structure is not an option.

The questions below have been prepared to allow the public to provide feedback and comments regarding the outcome of the project.

Survey Deadline: June 25, 2025

1.

Where do you live or where is your business located?

2.

Do you or did you use the bridge that is located on Sideroad 3?

3.

If the bridge is replaced, how often would you drive over the bridge?

5.

What type of vehicle do you use when crossing the bridge?

6.

The Township has 46+ structures in their inventory with 32 requiring repair or replacement in the next 10 years. Funding for the replacement, operation, and maintenance of bridges comes from property taxes. The estimated cost of these projects over the next 10 years is ± $20M.

The replacement of the Sideroad 3 Bridge will cost between $650,000 to $1M. If the bridge is replaced, the Township will have to spend more money maintaining and repairing the bridge in the future. The Township could remove the bridge and restore the creek. If removed, there would be no long-term costs for this bridge. Which option would you prefer?

8.

If the Township decides to the replace the bridge, which option would you prefer?
