Sarawak Park Playground Refresh

We’re refreshing the playground and surrounding amenities at Sarawak Family Park to create an inclusive play space for a wide range of ages and abilities. Design work is planned for 2025, with construction targeted for 2026.

Why now? Recent investments have improved accessibility at the park (accessible washrooms, trail connections, parking upgrades, mobi-mat), but the existing playground is older, and surfaced with engineered wood fibre (EWF). We’re aiming for a fully accessible play area with rubber surfacing, expanded shade and seating, and better connections from paths and parking.

• Fall 2025 – Final design + procurement prep

• 2026 – Construction

Budget context: Current budget planning identifies $850,000 for the accessible playground. The project will be 50% funded by the Government of Ontario CSRIF Grant.
