Why is the road being reconstructed?

Old Beach Drive is slated for reconstruction due to aging infrastructure. Combined with ongoing issues like road deterioration, pedestrian safety concerns, and limited fire suppression access, it’s time for a comprehensive solution.

What is included in the watermain option?

The watermain option would install a new municipal water pipe along Old Beach Drive and Washington Avenue. If approved, it would allow residents to connect to reliable, treated municipal water. It could also include fire hydrants, improving fire protection services in the area.

How would a cost recovery model work?

If the watermain is installed, the Township may use a cost recovery model under Ontario Regulation 586/06. This means the cost of the watermain could be shared by the properties that benefit from it, through a special charge added to property taxes. Details about the cost and payment options would be shared with residents before any decisions are made.

Will my property be impacted by the work?

If you live along Old Beach Drive or Washington Avenue, you may see temporary construction activity near your property in the future. Any work that might directly impact driveways or property access will be communicated in advance. No changes will be made to your property without your knowledge.
