Bridge Closed

Georgian Bluffs is conducting a study to evaluate options for the Sideroad 3 Bridge (Structure D-0007), closed since 2019 due to structural concerns. This bridge, built in the 1920s on the Keady Creek system, is a concrete and steel structure typical of its era. This study will help us choose the best course of action, with community feedback and environmental impacts at the forefront.

The Sideroad 3 Bridge, located within the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority area, has structural issues, including severe spalling and cracking, making it unsafe for use. We’re exploring whether to remove, rehabilitate, or replace the bridge.

    How the Study Works

This study follows Ontario’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) guidelines. Here’s what to expect:

    1. Background Assessment: Our team will complete an inventory and assessment of the natural, social, cultural, heritage and natural environment features of and potential impacts to the surrounding lands and watercourses.
    2. Alternative Solutions: We’re considering options that prioritize public safety, cost-effectiveness, and the community’s needs. Options will include possible repairs, complete replacement, or even removal.
    3. Community Engagement: Public input will play a vital role in the final decision. We’ll share regular updates for you to participate and provide input.
